Finding Fun in a Recession
Finding Fun in a Recession
These days, due to the Recession, no one can really afford to spend extra money on anything…certainly not anything fun! All of the money that we had that went to going out and having fun, is now used to pay the bills, in an attempt to make ends meet. In addition, who can really go out and spend $20 a person on a movie ticket, or drop $500 to take a vacation.. Not Me! So, I thought I would bring a little fun back into this Recession ridden World, and list some things that are fun, inexpensive and most of the time, free!
Game Night
Bring back the classic game night but step it up a notch! Invite your friends, family, couples, & co-workers! Ask everyone to make one homemade dish and one board game and you have yourself a party!
Picnic in the Park
Make your weekend meal experience fun and different by throwing some food, drinks and a blanket in a wicker basket, drive to the park and Ta-Da! A fun and inexpensive way to have a fun and mix up your mealtime.
Hiking
Hiking is a great way to get exercise, get out of the house, and enjoy nature. Go with a group of people and bring your camera! You know it will make for some great pictures!
Movie Night
Cuddle up with your loved one, share some popcorn with friends, and turn down the lights because it is movie night! Instead of spending money to drive to the theater and paying almost $40 to see a movie, stay at home, pop some popcorn and let the fun commence!
Fishing
The best way is the free way, in my opinion. Grab a stick, a string, and a live creepy-crawly and you are good to go! If you prefer, you can also go to the K-Mart and buy a lure and pole for under $10!
Bake a Cake
Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? Try to bake a cake, cupcakes, or pie in the kitchen with your friends or partner! It is fun, a great team building exercise, and you get to eat the outcome! Can’t beat that.
Capture the Flag
Capture the Flag but so much better! Get a group of friends together, at night, and instead of using flags, use glow sticks! Set the glow sticks in the designated spots, set the perimeter, and you now have a fun & free way to spend your Saturday night!
So, go out and have a little fun. Things aren’t getting any better, so we might as well stop and smell the roses, before those roses die.
