The Latest & Greatest after the Lowest of the Low
“Man, I said we gon’ win
Knock me down nine times but I get up ten
Look myself in the mirror, I say we gon’ win
Knock me down nine times but I get up ten”
Cardi B ain’t lyin…
What a difference 2 years can make!
2 years ago, I was living in a large & some what dangerous city, with a 6 month old daughter, battling Postpartum depression and PTSD without any friends or family near enough to help. I may have been in the house with someone else who could actually speak besides babbling and cute little coos…but I truly felt alone.
After marriage counseling, blame, finger pointing, truth finding and finally custody and divorce, I moved home with my parents with my 1 year old. It was rough. You never want to go home. But you definitely don’t want to go home after a failed marriage with a toddler on your hip.
But when you get knocked down, you need your loved ones in your corner to help you mend your emotional cuts and bruises.
The first days were hard. All you want to do is cry. All you want to do is give your child a better life. All you want to do is stop the fighting even though the fighting never starts with you.
Then days turned into weeks (I know…its cliche but stay with me.)
I started to think that maybe everything happens for a reason. That maybe this happened to show my daughter that you don’t need to rely on someone else to succeed in your life. To learn that asking for help from healthy influences is okay!
Weeks became months. Happy Heather came back and with Happy Heather… came determined, pissed off, climb to the top so I can spit on the nay sayers below Heather (Yes..I love Cardi B. Don’t Hate!)
And with that feeling, I got up 10.
And over the last 6 months, it has been only up, Up UP!
I have moved out of my parents house (LOVE YOU GUYS!) and moved into a condo in the heart of Wilmington, with my gorgeous daughter! In addition, my business #BGWD, has increased by 40% and I have focused my business on restaurants, food trucks, small business and entrepreneurs that are based in Delaware and are known for helping the Delaware Community! Speaking of the Delaware Community…
11 PM Thoughts before Bed are very beneficial! At midnight, I created the Food Truck Food Fight. A Free Admission, Pay as you Go, Food Truck Battle benefiting the Trauma Survivors Foundation!
On top of increasing my business & moving, I have enrolled myself into the University of Delaware Advanced Social Media for Business Certificate Course and have been awarded an amazing scholarship from U of D! Continuing my education is important for my business, my clients and most importantly, my daughter.
And I am not stopping!!!
I have also been working on a web & social media design course over the last 4 months that is in the final stages before being tested on a test group!
Many of you have read my blog from the beginning (10 years ago!) and many of you know that I believe in the law of attraction and that everything happens for a reason. This is no exception.
Everything happens for a reason and my reason has to do with friends, family, my daughter & Delaware.
STAY TUNED!
